🇲🇦 Morocco's Dual Gateways Each Play to Their Strengths: Casablanca Led by Domestic Arrivals, Marrakech by Spain and France
Morocco's two major business aviation gateways displayed clearly different arrival-source structures over the past 90 days. Avi-Go data shows that from May 12 to August 10, 2026, Casablanca (GMMN) led with 775 movements, and among 379 arrivals, domestic Moroccan traffic ranked first with 98 flights (25.9%), followed closely by Spain with 87 flights (23.0%). Marrakech (GMMX) recorded 620 movements, and among 308 arrivals, Spain was the largest source with 70 flights, with France close behind at 37 flights, with a higher share of international sources. Both locations draw their primary traffic mainly from Western European countries such as Spain and France, though their domestic/international source mixes differ markedly.
Impact: Casablanca's domestic-led arrivals and Marrakech's Western European-led arrivals constitute two demand curves with different rhythms, requiring operators and FBOs to handle scheduling and ground service configurations differently.
Recommendation: Operators serving Marrakech can closely track the seasonal demand rhythm from Spain and France. According to the July 2026 monthly report, Spain's departures that month grew 9.56% month-over-month and Italy grew 14.00%, and the summer heat of the Mediterranean market can serve as a reference for scheduling Western Europe to Marrakech sectors. On the Casablanca side, it is worth continuously tracking the stability of domestic sectors as well as traffic from Portugal and the UK.
