🌍 MGGT Accounts for More Than Half of Traffic Across the Three Airports, While MROC Has the Broadest Network
In August 2026, the three airports exhibited a structure in which “traffic volume” and “international network breadth” did not coincide. Avi-Go data show that from August 1 to August 31, Tocumen International Airport in Panama (MPTO) recorded 100 business aircraft departures and 103 arrivals, totaling 203 movements and covering 60 unique international airport pairs after combining and deduplicating both directions. Juan Santamaría International Airport in Costa Rica (MROC) recorded 205 movements, comprising 100 departures and 105 arrivals, with 68 international airport pairs—the highest among the three airports. La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala (MGGT) recorded 218 departures and 214 arrivals, totaling 432 movements and covering 66 international airport pairs. The three airports recorded a combined 840 movements, with MGGT accounting for 51.4%, although its network breadth was two airport pairs narrower than MROC’s. MPTO recorded only two fewer movements than MROC but eight fewer international airport pairs.
Impact: For regional business aviation brokers serving these three airports, MGGT contributed more than half of all business aircraft movements during the month, making it a more suitable priority for frequent customer engagement and sales resource allocation. With 68 international airport pairs, MROC has a more dispersed mix of destinations, placing greater demands on cross-airport ground handling coordination and supplier coverage. MPTO and MROC had similar movement volumes but differed in the breadth of their international connectivity, so business development resources should not be allocated solely on the basis of total volume.
Recommendation: Brokers can increase the frequency of customer responses at MGGT based on its monthly volume of 432 movements, while compiling lists of high-frequency destinations and local agents around MROC’s 68 international airport pairs. It is worth continuously tracking changes in business aircraft movements and unique international airport pairs across the three airports from September through November 2026 to determine whether MGGT’s traffic share and MROC’s network breadth persist.
