KFOK Drops, KISP Shows No Gain

📉 Westhampton Movements Decrease by 1,407

Two airports on Long Island, New York, recorded different rates of decline during the two most recent complete 31-day windows: business aircraft movements at Westhampton Airport (KFOK) decreased significantly, while Long Island MacArthur Airport (KISP) remained largely stable. Avi-Go data show that from August 23 to September 22, 2026, KFOK recorded 1,530 departures and 1,481 arrivals, totaling 3,011 movements. This was 1,407 fewer movements, or a 31.8% decline, compared with 4,418 movements from July 23 to August 22, 2026. During the same period, KISP decreased from 1,503 to 1,451 movements, a reduction of 52 movements, or 3.5%. Across the two airports, combined movements fell from 5,921 to 4,462 during this window. KISP did not record an increase corresponding to KFOK’s decline. The data only reflect concurrent changes at the two airports and do not support characterizing the trend as demand shifting toward KISP.

Impact: The change in movements at KFOK directly affects the baseline demand for ground handling, stand turnover, and staff scheduling at the airport. KISP recorded a decline of only 3.5% during the same period, meaning its operational planning faces relatively stable business volume rather than additional pressure resulting from changes in KFOK traffic. For charter brokers serving Long Island, New York, the latest 31-day data for the two airports are better used as a reference for the practical mix of available airports rather than as evidence of a traffic diversion trend.

Recommendation: KFOK’s FBOs can adjust near-term staffing based on the observed volume of 3,011 movements over the latest 31 days and monitor week by week whether movements recover. KISP operators should continue tracking whether movements can remain above 1,451 and whether growth occurs across multiple consecutive complete windows before deciding whether to increase ground transportation or handling resources for Westhampton customers.
