🔄 Undercurrents Beneath Abidjan's Zero Arrival Growth: Domestic Segments Surge 479%, Rewriting the Origin Landscape
Total arrivals barely moved, yet the origin structure has completely flipped. Avi-Go data shows that during the nearly 90 days from May 9 to August 7, 2026, business jet arrivals at Abidjan DIAP in Côte d'Ivoire reached 169 movements, just 1 more than the 168 movements in the same period last year (+0.6%). However, domestic segments within Côte d'Ivoire surged from 14 movements to 81 movements (+479%), with their share jumping from 8.3% to 47.9%, making it the largest origin overnight. Meanwhile, cross-border origins broadly contracted: Ghana fell from 26 movements to 4 (-85%), Nigeria dropped from 25 movements to 11 (-56%), and Morocco declined from 17 movements to 6 (-65%). Behind the stagnant total, nearly all of the incremental volume came from local and domestic flights, while cross-border demand substantially shrank.
Impact: The arrival clientele at DIAP is shifting from West African regional transit toward local business travel within Côte d'Ivoire. Operators and FBOs reliant on Ghana and Nigeria routes will face a structural downshift in their customer base, while demand for local charter and ground services is becoming a new growth point.
