Facing the same European fuel crisis impact, the two major business aviation hubs in Switzerland have shown markedly different levels of resilience. According to Avi-Go data, from April 1 to 24, 2026, business aircraft movements at Zurich LSZH totaled 1,052 operations, down 14.1% year-over-year from 1,224 operations in the same period of 2025, a decline of 172 movements. Geneva LSGG recorded 1,675 operations over the same period, falling only 4.6% from 1,756 operations in 2025, with the two hubs' declines differing by more than threefold. Impact: Zurich FBO operators are facing dual pressure from declining hangar utilization and narrowing ground services revenue, while the relative resilience of their Geneva counterparts provides a more stable pricing environment for service fees.
Recommendation: Zurich FBOs and ground handling service providers should proactively assess capacity allocation before the end of Q2 2026, considering shifting some resources toward Geneva or developing clients with high-frequency inelastic demand.
