VistaJet Passes Halfway on Fleet Upgrade

AVI-GO Intelligence · · Interactive version with charts

🔧 VistaJet passes the halfway point in its aircraft-by-aircraft upgrade, as the Global 8000 fleet moves from blueprint to runway

VistaJet's program to upgrade its Global 7500s to Global 8000s has reached its midpoint. After the model received FAA certification and entered service in December 2025, VistaJet chose an engineering upgrade path, delivering its first upgraded aircraft at Biggin Hill on April 15, 2026. Each aircraft takes about 14 days and costs approximately USD 3 million, with progress averaging about 2 aircraft per month. As of the end of July 2026, the 8th aircraft had been completed, roughly half of the planned 18 to 19 aircraft across the fleet. Avi-Go data shows that in the nearly 90 days from May 9 to August 7, 2026, the global Global 8000 fleet had only 5 active tail numbers and logged 296 flights, still in the early ramp-up phase of delivery. Over the same period, the Global 7500 had 197 active tail numbers and 7,154 flights, for a combined 7,450 flights across the two types.

Impact: The upgrade path expands ultra-long-range capacity at relatively low marginal cost, allowing VistaJet to maintain fleet continuity during the model transition period. As conversions are completed month by month, the number of active Global 8000 tail numbers will continue to rise, and the early low flight count reflects only the delivery pace rather than market demand.

Recommendation: Charter buyers may wish to lock in scheduling slots for upgraded aircraft before Q4 2026 to avoid the scheduling crunch caused by concentrated deliveries at year-end. FBOs and MROs should prepare maintenance and parts support capabilities for this model's conversion pace within 2026.
