✈️ Mumbai Airport Leads Delhi by 831 Movements
Business aviation activity at three Indian airports followed different monthly patterns from March through August 2026. Mumbai Airport (VABB) ranked first in the sample with 4,594 movements, 831 more than Delhi Airport (VIDP), which recorded 3,763 movements. Avi-Go data show that from March 1 through August 31, 2026, the three airports recorded a combined 8,969 takeoff and landing movements. VABB posted 845, 931, 719, 798, 566, and 735 movements by month, respectively, with August up by 169 movements from July. VIDP declined month by month from 842 movements in March to 493 in July, before recording 508 in August. Bangalore Airport (VOBL) recorded a six-month total of 612 movements, ranging from 79 to 133 per month. At the airport level, each takeoff and each landing is counted as one movement.
Impact: Business volumes at the three airports did not move in tandem. VABB accounted for more than half of the sample’s business aircraft takeoff and landing movements over the six-month period, and the increase from July to August came primarily from that airport. For brokers and ground-handling providers serving Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore, allocating personnel, vehicles, and service capacity evenly across all three locations may not align with actual monthly demand patterns. VIDP’s changes in absolute volume over several consecutive months will also directly affect local scheduling density.
Recommendation: Brokers and ground-handling providers should realign resources based on the monthly patterns at VABB, VIDP, and VOBL, using VABB’s 735 movements, VIDP’s 508 movements, and VOBL’s 82 movements in August as near-term allocation benchmarks. They should continue monitoring whether VABB’s rebound is sustained and whether VIDP stabilizes near 508 movements before deciding on subsequent increases or reductions in staffing shifts and on-site handling resources.
