✈️ One-Quarter of Helsinki Departures Bound for Sweden

Business aviation departures from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (EFHK) were concentrated within Europe, with Sweden ranking as the leading destination country from July 15 to August 22, 2026. Avi-Go data show that the airport recorded 169 business aviation departures during the 39-day period, of which 44 were bound for Sweden, accounting for 26.0% of all departures. Domestic Finnish flights totaled 20 departures, followed by France with 12, and Norway and Germany with 9 each. The United States, with 8 departures, was the primary long-haul market among the top ten destinations. Switzerland, Estonia, and the United Kingdom each recorded 7 departures, while Italy recorded 6. The top ten countries accounted for a combined 129 departures, or 76.3% of all departures, indicating that the route network during this period consisted mainly of short- and medium-haul destinations in the Nordic region and Europe, along with a small number of transatlantic flights.

Impact: Sweden alone contributed more than one-quarter of all departures, directly increasing demand for EFHK business aviation service providers to handle short-haul, high-frequency cross-border operations within the Nordic region. The 76.3% concentration among the top ten destinations also allows ground handling, crew scheduling, and passenger services to be configured more precisely around the leading countries. Although the 8 departures to the United States were significantly fewer than those to the main European destinations, long-haul sectors require different fuel, flight operations, and crew rotation services, and therefore still require separately organized support procedures.

Recommendation: EFHK-related operators can refine crew and support arrangements for short-haul Nordic and cross-border European operations based on actual traffic volumes of 44 departures to Sweden, 20 within Finland, and 12 to France. Going forward, they should closely monitor whether Sweden’s share can be sustained over a longer period while also tracking changes in the number of long-haul sectors to the United States.
