✈️ Istanbul LTBA Business Aviation Traffic Grows Moderately; Surge Rumors Prove False

Avi-Go data shows that Istanbul Atatürk Airport (LTBA) recorded 1,535 business aviation movements in June 2026, an increase of just 40 movements—about 2.7%—from May's 1,495. The near-100-percentage-point surge previously rumored did not materialize. Over the same period, Ankara Esenboğa Airport (LTAC) rose from 412 to 567 movements, a more pronounced month-on-month increase of 37.6%; meanwhile, Istanbul New Airport (LTFM) fell back to 392 movements, down 13.5% month-on-month. Departure countries across all three airports were highly concentrated in Turkey itself, with LTBA reaching 764 movements, indicating that flight segments were predominantly domestic, with no signs so far of head-of-state aircraft clustering.

Impact: The rumored claim that LTBA traffic surged due to a regional summit lacks data support. If operators and FBOs pre-adjust support resources based on this, it could cause a mismatch in capacity and costs; by comparison, Ankara's growth is more worthy of attention.

Recommendation: Within July 2026, FBOs and ground handlers should schedule LTBA parking and ground service staffing based on the actual moderate growth rate of 2.7%, avoiding over-expansion of capacity. At the same time, they should continue tracking Ankara LTAC's 37.6% growth trend and assess whether to add temporary support resources in late July.
