Avi-Go data shows that the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix (held at the Red Bull Ring on June 26-28) is significantly boosting business aviation activity at Salzburg Airport (LOWS)—from May 1 to June 19, LOWS recorded a cumulative 1,239 movements (725 in May, 514 from June 1-19), approximately 3.27 times that of Graz Airport (LOWG, 379 movements) over the same period. In terms of passenger origins, LOWS is more international, with Germany leading at 164 movements (26.3%), followed by France at 78, Austria at 71, and Switzerland at 64; whereas LOWG is dominated by surrounding local sources such as Austria at 46 and Germany at 41. As the event approaches, traffic will further concentrate toward Salzburg.

Impact: During the Grand Prix window, Salzburg will face highly strained slot, ground handling, and apron resources, with German and Western European premium clients being the core incremental demand; Graz will struggle to absorb the overflow demand, increasing pressure on regional transfers and diversion coordination.

Recommendation: Operators and FBOs should lock in LOWS parking slots and ground handling time slots for the event period before June 23, and pre-arrange transfers and fuel allocations for German, French, and Swiss clients; meanwhile, designate Graz as a diversion and parking overflow contingency, completing cross-airport coordination in advance.
