🌏✈️ Qingdao Jiaodong Outpaces Tianjin on International Routes, Qatar Executive Enters the Market

As two northern coastal gateways of comparable scale, their growth momentum has clearly diverged. Avi-Go data shows that from early 2026 to July 21, Qingdao Jiaodong recorded 173 business jet movements, up 12.3% year-on-year; Tianjin Binhai recorded 174 movements, flat compared with the same period in 2025. The difference lies in the route structure: Tianjin's departures are dominated by short-haul commuting to Beijing and Shanghai, which together account for 36.8%; Qingdao, by contrast, plays the international card, with departures to Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore totaling 17 movements, and has attracted Qatar Executive to establish a presence, ranking among the top five local operators with 10 movements, alongside Deer Jet at 38 movements and Lily Jet at 20 movements at the top.

Impact: Qingdao's mix of international destinations and the entry of foreign operators are pushing it from a regional commuting point toward a cross-border hub for Northeast Asia; Tianjin's model, dependent on Beijing-Shanghai commuting, is hitting a growth ceiling, and the two are drifting apart in their service positioning.

Recommendation: FBOs and ground handlers serving Qingdao should expand multilingual crew support, cross-border customs fast-track capabilities, and international client engagement capacity before Q4 2026 to capture incremental traffic toward Seoul, Tokyo, and Singapore; Brokers can include Qingdao as a backup hub for Northeast Asia cross-border charters and schedule ahead.
