✈️ Platoon Aviation Commits to Up to 16 Longitudes, Accelerating European Charter Market Expansion
European business aviation charter operator Platoon Aviation is signaling its market ambitions with a large-scale acquisition. During EBACE from May 27 to 30, 2026, Platoon Aviation signed a fleet purchase agreement with Textron Aviation for up to 16 Citation Longitudes. If all deliveries are confirmed, this would place the company among the largest Longitude fleet operators in Europe. According to Avi-Go data, Platoon Aviation's current fleet of 10 aircraft completed a combined 4,801 flight operations between January 1 and June 5, 2026, averaging approximately 480 operations per aircraft and a daily utilization rate of approximately 3.1 operations per aircraft — placing it among the highest-performing operators of its kind in Europe. Notably, registration D-CNMO recorded only 21 operations, suggesting it is a recently inducted aircraft, while the remaining 9 core aircraft showed evenly distributed flight activity ranging from 191 to 331 operations each, reflecting a high overall level of fleet operational maturity.
Impact: The exceptionally high existing utilization rate provides strong demand validation for this fleet expansion. Textron Aviation's Longitude delivery pace and after-sales support network in Europe will directly affect Platoon's operational continuity. For competing operators in the European mid-range charter market, the leap in Platoon's fleet size will further compress available market share, particularly in the super-midsize aircraft segment.
Recommendation: FBO and ground handling service providers should proactively engage with Platoon Aviation before Q3 2026 to secure ramp slots, maintenance agreements, and crew service contracts for the incoming aircraft in advance. Peer operators would be well advised to reassess their own fleet expansion plans before the end of 2026 in order to respond to the potential scale advantage Platoon may establish in the European super-midsize charter market.
