Nordic Big-Three Hubs Post Sharp Q1 Decline, Helsinki Plunges 34% in March

✈️ Nordic Big Three Hubs Contract Collectively — Helsinki's Active Fleet Nearly Halved in March

In Q1 2026, the three major Nordic business aviation hubs are experiencing a clear demand pullback. Avi-Go data shows combined business jet movements at Stockholm ESSA, Helsinki EFHK, and Oslo ENGM fell from 3,249 to 2,833 — down 12.8% YoY, a loss of 416 movements. Oslo ENGM posted the steepest decline, dropping from 1,411 to 1,170 movements (-17.1%). Helsinki EFHK's situation is more structural: after posting +12.3% growth in January 2026, movements plunged 34.3% in March alone (274→180), with the active fleet shrinking from 64 to 33 aircraft (-48.4%, nearly halved). ENGM shows a different anomaly: its active fleet surged 67.1% to 132 aircraft in January 2026, yet movements simultaneously fell 7.6%, indicating a sharp drop in per-aircraft visit frequency and deepening market fragmentation.

Implications: Nordic FBOs and ground handlers face near-term pressure on ramp demand and fuel volumes. Helsinki's sudden market cooling warrants a reassessment of capacity allocation. At ENGM, fleet expansion without corresponding revenue likely signals intensifying price competition or weakening customer retention, compressing operator margins.

Recommendations: Operators active in the Nordics should track in Q2 2026 whether EFHK's active fleet recovers above 50 aircraft to determine if March was a seasonal trough. A dedicated review of ENGM per-aircraft utilization should be completed within H1 2026 to inform customer segmentation strategy adjustments.
