✈️ Mykonos Peak Season Surge — Daily Movements Up 141%, Leading Mediterranean Islands

The business jet peak season for Mediterranean resort islands is heating up rapidly. On July 8, 2026, OpsGroup released the "Maps of Misery: Europe Summer Parking Guide 2026," highlighting tight parking at popular destinations such as Spain's Balearic Islands, Greece, and Italy. Avi-Go data, comparing two 42-day periods (June 1 to July 12, 2026 versus May 1 to June 11, 2026), shows daily movements at Mykonos LGMK jumping from 10.1 to 24.2 (+140.6%), and Ibiza LEIB rising from 52.5 to 74.6 (+42.1%); meanwhile, Palma LEPA held steady at 60.2 (about -0.3%), indicating it entered its high point early in May. According to the June 2026 monthly report, Europe was the only region to grow in June, adding 9,679 movements month-over-month (+20.64%), pushing its regional share to a tracking-window high of 19.25%.

Impact: Parking apron supply at island airports is inflexible, and concentrated sudden demand will drive up ground handling and repositioning costs. Drop-and-go and alternate repositioning airport bookings have become peak-season essentials.

Recommendation: Operators planning to fly to Mykonos and Ibiza from late July through August should immediately secure parking slots and reserve repositioning plans at nearby alternate airports. FBOs can dynamically allocate summer ground resources to address the staggered pattern of Palma's early season opening and the islands' late-season surge.
