✈️ KAPA Leads the Denver Metropolitan Area by 2,724 Flights
Business aviation activity in the Denver metropolitan area over the past 30 days was concentrated primarily at KAPA, with clear gaps between the two airports in both traffic and active tail numbers. Avi-Go data show that from August 4 to September 2, 2026, KAPA recorded 4,631 takeoffs and landings, comprising 2,312 departures and 2,319 arrivals. KBJC recorded 1,907 movements during the same period, including 966 departures and 941 arrivals. KAPA exceeded KBJC by 2,724 movements, or 142.8%. Based on unique registrations in outbound activity, KAPA had 1,321 active tail numbers, 690 more than KBJC’s 631, or 109.4% higher. During this window, KBJC’s traffic volume remained well below KAPA’s.
Impact: With 4,631 business aircraft movements and 1,321 active tail numbers, KAPA was the airport with the highest concentration of business aviation support demand in the Denver metropolitan area during this reporting window. Its FBOs, hangars, and maintenance facilities also served a broader customer base. KBJC’s 1,907 movements and 631 active tail numbers over the same period nevertheless represented a distinct business volume. Related projects should be based on their own customer segments and actual utilization frequency, rather than directly equating a metropolitan-area investment narrative with the migration of KAPA’s existing demand.
Recommendation: KAPA service providers can use the balanced mix of 2,312 departures and 2,319 arrivals to further segment the parking frequency and maintenance needs of existing tail numbers. KBJC FBO and hangar projects should continue monitoring whether the gaps of 2,724 movements and 690 active tail numbers versus KAPA narrow consistently, and adjust the pace of customer development and facility deployment accordingly.
