🛫 Halim Firmly Holds Jakarta's Top Business Aviation Spot, Local Operators Anchor Capacity Expansion
The divergence in business aviation activity between Jakarta's two main airports has become increasingly clear, with Halim (WIHH) further consolidating its position as the primary gateway. Avi-Go data shows that from the start of 2026 to July 25, WIHH recorded a cumulative 2,493 business jet movements (1,243 departures, 1,250 arrivals), far exceeding Soekarno-Hatta's (WIII) 1,076 movements. Measured on a comparable January-to-May basis, WIHH grew from 1,369 to 1,802 movements, an increase of 31.6%, while WIII grew only 3.7%, with nearly all the incremental growth coming from Halim. The passenger structures of the two airports diverge markedly: WIHH's top ranks are dominated by local Indonesian operators, with JETSET leading at 185 movements and Indonesia Air Transport recording 131 movements; WIII, on the other hand, is led by VistaJet Ltd with 84 movements, skewing toward international business routes. Concentration among the top operators is low at both airports, with the leader accounting for less than 8% in each case.
Impact: Local operators are the core driver of Halim's incremental growth, and FBO and ground handling resources need to tilt toward the WIHH side to match the continuously rising movement demand; WIII's retained international operator clientele still holds differentiated service value.
Recommendation: Before the end of Q3 2026, airport and FBO operators can roll out parking and ground handling packages targeting WIHH's top local operators; for WIII's international business route clientele, it is advisable to strengthen customs clearance and cross-border support capabilities before Q4 to avoid homogeneous competition.
