✈️ Flexjet Acquires The Jet Business, Fleet Ramps Up Challenger 3500 Deployment

Flexjet is strengthening its fleet transaction capabilities through acquisition while accelerating the generational upgrade of its core aircraft types. On June 12, 2026, Flexjet acquired London-based business aviation broker The Jet Business, with founder Steve Varsano appointed as President to lead fleet expansion and reduction strategy. Avi-Go data shows that Flexjet's top five aircraft types recorded 43,250 one-way flights YTD in 2026, up 11.9% year-over-year, of which Challenger 3500 flights surged from 1,854 to 3,397, a growth of 83.2%, with its share jumping from 4.81% to 7.86% (+3.05 percentage points), becoming the largest structural highlight. Over the same period, the combined share of Challenger 350 and Praetor 500-600 was diluted by approximately 3.2 percentage points. The Jet Business brings professional valuation and secondary-market transaction capabilities, supporting international expansion.

Impact: The fleet's center of gravity is accelerating its shift toward the Challenger 3500, which will reshape aircraft availability and scheduling mix for existing customers. With the addition of brokerage capabilities, Flexjet's bargaining power in disposing of older aircraft in the secondary market and locking in new aircraft orders is strengthening in tandem.

Recommendation: Fleet operators and OEMs should re-evaluate Flexjet's procurement and retirement pace before Q3 2026. According to the June 2026 report, Embraer's Praetor 500 leads globally with a 54.41% utilization rate, and the Praetor series remains core to high-intensity operations. Supply chain and MRO resources should be shifted in advance toward the two main lines of Challenger 3500 and Praetor.
