✈️ Dubai and Abu Dhabi Business Jet Movements Plunge 91% in Sync in March, Statistical Gap Raises Concerns
Dubai Al Maktoum (OMDW) holds the top position for business jet movements in the UAE, but the synchronized sharp decline at both major airports in March exposes anomalies at the statistical or infrastructure level. Avi-Go data shows that OMDW recorded 5,057 movements from January to June 2026, 3.37 times the 1,499 movements at Abu Dhabi Al Bateen (OMAD). However, both airports plunged in sync in March, with OMDW recording only 149 movements, down 91.1% from February, and OMAD only 41, recovering to 431/209 movements only in April. VistaJet leads at both airports (OMDW 646, OMAD 223), but OMAD shows a localized pattern, with Royal Jet at 120 and Falcon Aviation at 98 close behind.
Impact: If the synchronized plunge in March stems from a statistical methodology adjustment, it will directly affect operators' judgment on capacity deployment in the Middle East; if it is due to infrastructure or runway factors, it could trigger ground service scheduling and FBO resource misallocation.
Recommendation: Operators should verify the March data methodology before the end of July 2026 to distinguish between a statistical gap and genuine operational fluctuation. Regarding OMAD's localized pattern, international operators such as VistaJet may assess ground collaboration with Royal Jet and Falcon Aviation in the third quarter of 2026 to consolidate their Abu Dhabi market share.
