Cascais Tops Lisbon in Jet Movements

AVI-GO Intelligence · · Interactive version with charts

✈️ Cascais Accounts for More Than 70% of Business Jet Movements at Two Designated Airports

In September 2026, business jet movements at Cascais Airport (LPCS) were substantially higher than at Lisbon Airport (LPPT). Avi-Go data show that from September 1 to September 30, Cascais recorded 434 departures and 449 arrivals, for a total of 883 movements; Lisbon Airport recorded 129 departures and 130 arrivals, for a total of 259 movements. The two designated airports recorded a combined 1,142 movements, of which Cascais accounted for approximately 77.3%. This share reflects only the distribution of activity between the two airports; it does not represent business jet traffic across all airports in the Lisbon area.

Impact: Of these two airports, Cascais handled more business jet movements, and its ground service providers faced a correspondingly higher actual workload. Departures and arrivals were close in number at both airports. When comparing service demand, the respective figures of 434 departures and 449 arrivals at Cascais, and 129 departures and 130 arrivals at Lisbon Airport, can be used rather than relying solely on total movements.

Recommendation: Ground handling teams serving the two airports can use the measured September movement figures to check their respective passenger transfer, cleaning and refueling records, and continue tracking monthly departures and arrivals separately at Cascais and Lisbon Airport. Subsequent resource planning should be based on actual operational demand; the 77.3% traffic share should not be treated directly as the share of aircraft parking positions or ground handling capacity.
