🌍 Côte d'Azur: Cannes Film Festival Window Drives 82% MoM Surge in Movements — Peak Window Approaching Again

Each May, the Cannes Film Festival pushes Côte d'Azur business aviation demand close to summer peak levels. Avi-Go data shows combined business aviation movements at Nice (LFMN) and Cannes (LFMD) reached 5,948 in May 2025, up 82.1% from 3,267 in April, with Cannes airport alone up 88.8%. May total was only ~7.5% below June peak, confirming that the festival combined with seasonal factors has effectively made May a primary demand window. Origin traffic was heavily concentrated in European financial centers: London led arrivals into Nice at 222 movements, followed by Paris (157), Geneva (93), and Milan (91). By aircraft type, the Phenom 300 and Challenger 350 dominated Nice, while Cannes saw the PC-12 lead with 94 movements — short-field capability is a practical operational threshold at LFMD.

Implications: The 2026 Cannes Film Festival is scheduled for mid-May. Demand is highly concentrated within a narrow window, placing extreme short-term pressure on FBO ramp space and ground handling resources — securing slots in advance is a prerequisite for revenue capture. For brokers, London, Geneva, and Milan clients are the highest-priority outreach targets.

Recommendations: FBO operators should confirm 2026 May Cannes window ramp reservations and ground crew scheduling by end of April. Brokers should proactively market Côte d'Azur charter solutions to London and Geneva-based clients, focusing on the core demand period of May 12–25.
