Baku Post-Race Movements Hold Steady

AVI-GO Intelligence · · Interactive version with charts

✈️ Baku averaged 30 business aircraft movements per day in the five days after the race

Business aircraft activity at Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport (UBBB) from September 26 to September 30, 2026, averaged nearly the same number of daily movements as in the preceding seven days, but the balance between departures and arrivals changed markedly. Avi-Go data count each departure or arrival at the airport as one movement. From September 26 to September 30, the airport recorded 150 movements, averaging 30.0 per day; from September 19 to September 25, 2026, it recorded 208 movements, averaging 29.7 per day. The earlier period had 83 departures and 125 arrivals, averaging 11.9 and 17.9 per day, respectively; the later period had 87 departures and 63 arrivals, averaging 17.4 and 12.6 per day, respectively. For this airport, average daily movement totals were similar across the two periods, but the composition of operations changed.

Impact: Ground service providers at Baku airport may face a different balance of arrival-handling and departure-support work than in the earlier period. A review of support operations from September 26 to September 30, 2026, should not look only at the total average of 30.0 movements per day; it should distinguish between departure and arrival processes. Both periods are short windows, so their aggregate figures are useful for describing the composition of activity within each window, but should not be treated as a direct substitute for daily workload figures.

Recommendation: Use the departure and arrival records for September 19 to September 25 and September 26 to September 30 to check Baku airport’s daily departures, arrivals, and service hours separately, then adjust day-by-day staffing for similar future events accordingly. A key point to monitor is how the daily workload for departure support was distributed after average daily departures rose from 11.9 to 17.4, rather than reducing shifts based solely on the five-day average.
