✈️ Atlanta Traffic Density Concentrates at DeKalb

Atlanta’s two business aviation airports showed a clear disparity in traffic levels during the first 19 days of August 2026, with DeKalb–Peachtree Airport (KPDK) handling more business aircraft movements and a broader range of operators than Fulton County Airport (KFTY). Avi-Go data show that from August 1 through August 19, KPDK recorded 3,227 movements, comprising 1,610 departures and 1,617 arrivals, involving 401 active operators. During the same period, KFTY recorded 947 movements, comprising 470 departures and 477 arrivals, involving 154 active operators. Counting each departure or arrival as one aircraft movement, KPDK recorded 2,280 more movements and 247 more active operators than KFTY. Arrivals and departures were relatively balanced at both airports, with the main differences during the period centered on business volume and customer reach.

Impact: KPDK’s higher movement density and broader operator coverage expose its ground handling services to a larger number of frequent and dispersed service requirements, shifting the focus of resource allocation toward turnaround efficiency and the simultaneous handling of multiple customers. KFTY’s 947 movements still represent a distinct level of business activity, but its 154 active operators indicate that its facilities and service mix are better tailored to the actual customer profile rather than directly replicating KPDK’s high-turnover model.

Recommendation: KPDK service providers can refine peak-period stand allocation, fueling, and vehicle dispatch based on the period’s average of approximately 170 daily movements. KFTY stakeholders can use the visit frequency and aircraft-type composition of its 154 active operators to identify customer groups that repeatedly use the airport, then determine the investment priorities for lounges, hangars, or ground services. It will be worthwhile to monitor whether movement density and operator breadth at both airports continue after August 20.
