Bangladesh Government in Talks with AirAsia on Airport Ground Handling and Civil Aviation Cooperation

The delegation visited AirAsia's headquarters and operational facilities at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2, including Ground Team Red, AirAsia's ground services operation, where it was briefed on the airline's low-cost model covering fast aircraft turnaround, smart technology use and integrated aircraft maintenance. Delegation members observed automated check-in, self-service baggage drop, dual-door boarding, optimised apron facilities and digital baggage systems, measures said to allow an aircraft to operate approximately 6 to 8 flight sectors per day. The delegation also visited the newly built 14-line maintenance, repair and overhaul facility of Asia Digital Engineering, which supports AirAsia's fleet operations. On August 18, the state minister met YB Tuan Chiew Choon Man, Malaysia's deputy minister for tourism, arts and culture, in Putrajaya, where discussions covered increasing flight frequencies between Bangladesh and Malaysia, visa processing and pre-verification, tourism promotion, and cooperation in hospitality training and skills development for Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia.
